China Lets a Few Flowers Bloom

The Chinese government banned all contemporary art until recent years with their bid to host the Olympics.  The Wall Street Journal published an article, “Artists Test Limits as China Lets (a Few) Flowers Bloom” by Ian Johnson and Sky Canaves on October 2, addressing this problem and the progress being made.  Gradually the ban is lifting, but curators and gallery owners say that “works directly challenging government decisions are taboo, as are works with overt sexuality.”  Another reminder for those of us who live in places where freedom of speech, religion, and expression is supported to appreciate that freedom.

Speaking freely, don’t forget our BOGO sale ends today at Fruits of the Bloom, and we will have fresh product in the store as well!  Tomorrow will bring you new previews, until then, have a free-wheeling Sunday!
